Social Consciousness

Introduction

Darashaw Foundation, founded in 2005, is an NGO in India based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Darashaw Foundation closely work with the vulnerable communities and empowers the socially marginalized by providing livehood linkages, imparting skills leading to employment, health and education facilities.

Objective

The Foundations’ objective is to support and undertake socially useful programs for the welfare and sustainable development of the society. This is based on the belief that growth and development are effective only when they result in pervasive access to opportunities and benefits to a broader section of society. The aim of these efforts are not only to help people by providing facilities for health, education, civic amenities etc. but also to create opportunities for development of skills, employment including self-employment, to promote greater environmental responsibilities. This helps develop strong relationships with our stakeholders, and create long-term value for society and our business. This is further infused into our concept of trusteeship. This requires transcending business interests and working towards making a meaningful difference to the society.

Our focus Area

We have been lending support to groups and organisations who have been transparently working for social change in the society. Working and associating with these groups and organisation, we feel satisfied in contributing our time and resources to the several sections of the society.

Darashaw Foundation works focuses on the below four areas of social developments

Child Educations

With the complex social changes taking place in the world today, education is becoming increasingly important for success in life. The Trust’s projects and initiatives, especially in the area of educational attainment, significantly contribute to building intellectual capital in the country. We have devoted our time to promote child and youth development by promoting and assisting organisations in education that put in efforts to help students pursue their higher studies. These efforts have a far reaching impact on an entire social system which helps in reducing the deeply entrenched forms of inequality.

Women Empowerment

To amplify public development while ensuring that initiatives have a contemporary relevance to the nation, we provide funds to the organisations working towards the empowerment of women. These organisations generally provide vocational training and education to women of all ages to help them develop and improve on their skills and abilities. This enables them to work and survive independently, to lead a nurturing life. We provide various kinds of support for individuals and institutions active in the above practise.

Disaster Relief and Aid

The Trust also supports causes and initiatives that provide disaster relief and aids in rescue work in case of calamities. The Trust not only assists by providing funds and helping to mobilise funds, we also partner with other stakeholders to help the people in need.

Further to that, we sponsor programs and organisations that help provide assistance in terms of health and medicine to the underprivileged members of our society. These organisations work towards providing medical aid to the people diagnosed with various diseases and illness; and providing after care.

Promoting Small Artisans

Our projects focus on bringing about an awareness and promotion of the fine art created. This is achieved by supporting organisations that primarily take interest in safeguarding and promoting the art that form part of the Indian heritage. We seek to maintain and preserve the condition of the various art forms. In addition to that, we encourage the manifestation of culture since it represents a set of shared attitudes, values, goals and practices followed by the various communities and tribes within India and embolden an understanding for the same among the public. We support organisations and programs which help us achieve this cause.

Insights gained through our analysis are particularly significant for the development, evaluation and dissemination of donations (funds) designed to benefit the above causes.
